Hannah here. I want to thank everyone – nearly 100 women – who filled out our survey last month. Every response was really insightful (sounds like folks want to do some ridin’ & drinkin’!) Overwhelmingly, the results suggest high interest in women’s MTB group rides, clinics, and social events.
So we’re in the midst of curating all of the above. If you want to assist us or host a social event (even if that means creating an FB page to gather female riders at a brewery or the Lyric), please do so or reach out to me at hwittmeyer@gmail.com
What we’ve curated so far:
1. Sunday Group Rides
We’ll create individual facebook pages for each. The idea is to get together at 9am, ride for a few hours, and meet immediately afterwards or later in the day for a social gathering – BBQ, brewery, etc. At the moment, we’ve got the set schedule and ride leaders for each. See the poster above for dates/locations. They’re also available on our events calendar.
2. Skills Clinic
The first one is organized for Saturday, June 15th, 8-12pm. We are limiting attendance to ensure high-touch, individualized work with each rider – so register now! Three amazing instructors including Marie Walsh and Renee Hutchens, snacks, & training on either private land or public trails (TBD), all-levels. Keep an eye out on social media for more details. I’ll also e-mail the group of registered riders with updates.
3. Social events & FB group/pages
We’re still deliberating about whether to create a separate Women’s group (WOMBA!) to organize rides & social events or posting them under OMBA. Be sure to follow and join the OMBA group on FB to stay in the loop. This is how we’ll coordinate carpools, post-ride social hours, and additional events. Again, feel free to take initiative & co-create events with us.
