We will also need volunteers to make this event a success.  Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is held in conjunction with the Northern Colorado MTB Fest, the volunteer signups will be part of the festival volunteer signup. Look for “Ride Leader – Take A Kid Mountain Biking”.

What is Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day?

IMBA’s Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day strives to encourage communities in the U.S.A. and around the world to join together and ride mountain bikes with kids. Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD) events range in size from a few kids and families to several hundred gathering at a local park or trailhead. IMBA clubs and chapters, retail shops, Trips for Kids, schools, scouts and community groups are encouraged to host events. In 2017, 15,000 kids and family members participated in 150+ community events in the U.S. Several events were registered in other countries including: Italy, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Malaysia, and Mexico. You, your family or your company are encouraged to join the fun and participate in IMBA’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.

When is #TKMBD?

The official IMBA Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day is the first weekend in October.  We will host our local edition during the Northern Colorado Mountain Bike Festival on September 24th!


Fall Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day @ Lory State Park

Join us on Sunday, September 29th, for a morning of kids on bikes! This FREE event is geared toward kids aged 4 – 12 years old. We will break into age/skill appropriate groups to ride the East/West Valley trail with add on option for the older age group to ride South Valley. Groups are aimed to be 4 – 5 kids with 2 ride leaders.

Rides will leave promptly at 10:15AM, please plan on arriving for check in by 9:45AM to allow time for check in.

The skills park will have volunteers ready to help the kids sharpen their skills from 9AM – 10AM that morning.

Food trucks will be on site for parents to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the festivities, while the kids make friends and enjoy a beautiful day on the trails at Lory State Park!  

 Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is sponsored by Overland Mountain Bike Association and is presented in conjunction with the Northern Colorado Mountain Bike Festival.  This free event is always full of smiles and laughter for you and your children while encouraging an active lifestyle.  After the ride, stick around for the rest of the NoCO MTB Festival!  Corndoggies and Kona Ice food trucks will be there, bike give-aways, bike games, and more fun stuff!
