Monthly Meeting, Weekly Stuff, etc...

Last Week o' June. First Week o'July...
Time's flying...So I learned this week that climbing Towers in my Keens on my Candy's probably isn't the most efficient method of turning the cranks. Apparently the pre-ride check wasn't complete before departing at 5:50 a.m. Dropping down Carey Springs/Loggers/Sawmill managed to be a little more dicey too. Would'a been worse without my Gravity Dropper.
So, welcome to the new website. A huge thanks to Kevin Cullen, who, back in the winter, learned Drupal and proceeded to build this website so that we can have all of the info we need in one place. No more outside calendar. No more outside blog. It's all "in-house" now. Should make things a whole lot easier. Thanks to Kevin for the countless hours. Someone buy that man a beer.
This week's "Heads Up"
Monday, June 28th, 6:30 p.m. - Monthly Meeting at Catalyst Coffee and Tap Room. Sorry for the confusion everyone. I got ahead of myself. Our meeting in July is at New Belgium. Thanks to Catalyst for hosting us again. Please join us at our Monthly Public Meeting. Catch up with fellow mountain bikers and learn what's rolling around town.
Tuesday, June 29th - Go ride.
Wednesday, June 30th - Social Ride at Maxwell. Please come ride with us. Our Social Rides are "no-drop" rides which means, well, they're social. We always hang out afterwards. Thanks to Doug and Mary for hosting last week. Looks like this week will be at Josh's unless I hear differently from Josh.
Thursday, July 1st - First Aid/CPR Refresher and other Patrol News (This from Bill H, Patrol Director extraordinaire) On Thursday, we will be doing a CPR/First Aid refresher/recret, if your card ran out within the last year, you can attend and become current. The Class will be Thursday July 1st at 6:30 at the Fort Collins Red Cross building at 120 Saturn Dr. Let Bill know if you are coming.
For those needing the full course, we don't have enough to do our own class, so as Red Cross community classes become available I'll send out an e-mail.
Also the curriculum for Wilderness and Remote First Aid Class is available from Bill. He attached it in an email, however, if you need it again, contact him. This class builds on the basic first aid and focuses on remote situations. The cost of the class is $150.00 and is 16 hours long, the patrol will cover half of the cost. This is great way to great some extra training and knowledge for the situations that we can run across on the trail and in the back country. If there is enough interest we will try to put on a class later this summer/fall.
Friday, July 2nd - Moving Day. Any able bodied soul who wants to help Kory unpack a 26 foot trailer will go down in the annals of Overland Mountain Bike Club history.
Saturday - Sunday - Monday: Ride. Watch Fireworks. BBQ. Ride. Ride.
Tuesday, July 6th - Trails Committee Meeting at Cafe Vino at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and find out about all the awesome trail work this committee is organizing.
Thursday, July 8th - Bobcat Ridge Trail Maintenance on Ginny. 6 p.m. Check the calendar for more info.
Saturday, July 10th - Trail Day on the Rimrock Trail sponsored by Overland and Larimer County Parks and Open Lands. Grab Yer Pulaski and head on out to the trail. This ought to be fun!
That's all I got for now. Have a great 4th. See you at Catalyst. May the god of Fireworks send a shower of friendly sparkles your way.
