Urgent Need for Trail Volunteers!
Overland Mountain Bike Club is honored to partner once again with Larimer County Department of Natural Resources to construct over six miles (6 miles!) of brand new mountain bike-friendly, multi-use trail at Hermit Park Open Space, located 2 miles southeast of Estes Park. The two-year project will connect the various camping areas at the open space and include new trailheads for access. Members of the Estes Park Cycling Coalition will partner with us on this event. Expect moderate-to-strenuous basic trail work with opportunities for rock work and tree stump removal.
Can you say free camping up in the cool forest? Escape the heat down below and join us for either (or both) Saturday, August 6 from 8:00am-3:00pm, and/or Sunday, August 7 from 8:00am-2:00pm. Volunteers will be provided with free tent camping either or both Friday and/or Saturday nights, as well as meals. Must volunteer to camp for free. We need only 25 more Volunteers, and we also need Crew Leaders and Camp Chef help.
See cool map of Hermit Park at: http://www.larimer.org/naturalresources/hermitpark_map.pdf The hilly ridges south and west of Kruger and Granite Gulch Campgrounds will be our new play area….
All other project details – work schedule, what to expect, what to bring – will be provided after signup. Minimum age of 18, or 16 accompanied by a volunteering parent. Be sure to bring your bikes!
