Trail Day at Young Gulch – the Big Push!
September 15 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
We have recently found out that the USFS plans to open the Young Gulch Trail to the public at the end of this month! The Big Push is in full swing! Our partners at WRV – Wildlands Restoration Volunteers – are organizing this weekend trail event, and OMBA trail volunteers will be working alongside to get the work done!
Completion of the three primary bridges seemed to be standing in the way… But then…
We moved in i-beams to bridge 1 last month.
The Forest Service was finally able to mobilize a helicopter to bring in bridge materials for bridge 3 last week (did you see the videos on OMBA’s Facebook page?)
Now bridge construction is underway, and we need to show up for a strong finish!
We would very much welcome your help at Young Gulch on Saturday and/or Sunday Sept 14-15. We’ll be staging from the Trailhead to finish tying in our trail transitions to the newly constructed bridges and heading a little further up trail to complete work above crossing 7.
There will also be opportunities for smaller more remote projects later in the month with OMBA and partnering organizations.
